Create a persuasive poster highlighting the NFC’s need to receive the same levels of allowances and benefits as other soldiers of the Newfoundland Regiment.

2: “We Deserve Parity” (PERSUASIVE SPEAKING)

Write a persuasive speech that a member of the NFC might have spoken to an official at a postwar meeting about benefits hosted by the Great War Veterans Association. The speech should highlight the struggle for parity in allowances and benefits with the other soldiers of the Newfoundland Regiment.

3: Our National Memorial (VISUAL ART)

Create a sketch or diorama of the National War Memorial unveiled in St. John’s, Newfoundland, in 1924.

4: “Coming Home Isn’t Easy . . .” (FICTION WRITING)

Write the opening page(s) of a novel that focuses on the emotional conflicts a member of the NFC might have experienced leaving the United Kingdom and returning home after First World War ended.

5: “If a Tree Falls in the Forest . . . ?” (ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP)

Research the concerns about deforestation and the strategies for afforestation and reforestation in the UK that were identified in 1919. Compare them to today’s global deforestation concerns and reforestation and afforestation strategies. Present your findings in a research poster or an artform of your choice. Include images/pictures/visuals from both eras.

6: “Did You Know That . . . ? (STORYTELLING/SPOKEN WORD)

Write a monologue about a member of the NFC, such as William J. Woodford, telling the emotional story of First World War service and its impact on individuals and families.
